Mata: A High-Voltage Spy Thriller Starring Eye Haïdara and Mélanie Laurent

Eye Haïdara and Mélanie Laurent headline "Mata," a gripping spy thriller directed by Rachel Lang. After her successful film "Our Men" premiered at Cannes' Directors Fortnight, Lang teams up with Indie Sales to present "Mata" at the European Film Market in Berlin.

Warner Bros. secures distribution rights in French theaters, while Netflix acquires local streaming rights. Currently in production, "Mata" also features Joséphine Japy and Raphaël Personnaz. It marks Lang's third feature, following "Our Men" and "Baden Baden," which screened at Cannes and Berlin Film Festivals respectively.

Haïdara portrays Mata, a French secret agent wounded in Niger and separated from her colleague Antoine. Back in France, she senses a connection between her current counter-espionage mission and her past trauma. Convinced that her superiors are withholding information, Mata embarks on a dangerous pursuit outside official channels.

Indie Sales' CEO, Nicolas Eschbach, praises "Mata" as a unique film in the French cinema landscape, blending entertainment and psychological depth. "Rachel's vision brings a fresh perspective to the male-dominated spy genre, captivating global audiences," he says.

A French-Belgian co-production, "Mata" is produced by Chevaldeuxtrois, Nolita Cinema, Wrong Men, and Marvelous. Indie Sales' current slate includes Jean-Pierre Améris' "It Takes Two to Tango," the Leonora Carrington biopic "Leonora in the Morning Light," Jan & Raf Roosens' "Comeback," and Michel Gondry's "Maya, Give Me a Title," which screened at Berlinale Generation.
