John Malkovich Joins 'Fantastic Four' Cast, Reflects on Marvel Past

Malkovich admits to limited prior knowledge of the Fantastic Four before signing onto the franchise reboot. He recalls reading the comics as a child, but acknowledges the distant nature of those memories. Despite his unfamiliarity, Malkovich looked forward to collaborating with a talented cast.

The actor's role in "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" remains shrouded in secrecy. Fans speculate on his potential portrayal of Ivan Kragoff, also known as Red Ghost. Red Ghost, a Soviet scientist, gains intangible abilities through a replication of the team's space accident. He subsequently creates Super Apes with similar powers.

Malkovich's appearance in the film's teaser trailer has sparked anticipation among fans. He describes the filming experience as enjoyable, praising the cast and director. The transition to a massive cinematic universe, however, has not been without its challenges.

"It's a very odd experience because nothing is really there except giant screens and epic cranes," Malkovich notes. Despite the unusual setting, he remains optimistic about the project.

Regarding potential future Marvel appearances, Malkovich expresses uncertainty. He admits passing on past offers due to unsatisfactory terms, but emphasizes the importance of evaluating the right opportunities.

"The Fantastic Four: The First Steps" will debut in theaters on July 25th. Malkovich also stars in "Opus," a horror thriller about a former pop star attempting a comeback.
