Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 Premieres, Costner Hints at More to Come

Kevin Costner unveiled the U.S. premiere of "Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2" at the Santa Barbara Film Festival on Friday night. While Costner remained tight-lipped about the future of the Western series, the second chapter offers a glimpse into the upcoming "Chapter 3."

Addressing a packed house that included cast members and guests such as Quentin Tarantino, Costner shared the inspiration behind the series: the pursuit of dreams by those who crossed the ocean to America. He acknowledged the complexities of the land's history, expressing concern about the lack of knowledge surrounding its Native American inhabitants.

Jon Beavers, star of "Horizon," expressed his eagerness to continue working on the series. "Whenever Kevin tells me to jump on a horse, I'm there," he said after the premiere.

Kathleen Quinlan, who has a memorable role in "Chapter Two," announced she will not return for the third installment but appreciated the emphasis on female characters. Costner emphasized the essential role of women in the West, stating, "It's happening now, all around us, across the world."

Despite not being questioned about his plans for the saga during the Q&A, Costner hinted at the project's long gestation, stating, "I started this in 1988. I couldn't make it then and it didn't seem like anybody liked it too much, so I thought 'Fuck it, I'm going to write four more.'"

The "Yellowstone" star and Oscar-winning director for "Dances With Wolves" partially self-financed the first two parts of the saga, receiving a mixed reception. "Chapter 2" is slated for a German theatrical release on April 3, but no U.S. release date has been announced yet.
