Dark Star Pictures Acquires North American Rights to "Heads or Fails"

Los Angeles, CA - Dark Star Pictures has acquired the North American distribution rights to "Heads or Fails," the latest film from Belgian directing duo Harpo and Lenny Guit. The deal marks a continuation of the partnership between Dark Star Pictures and the Guit brothers, whose previous film, "Mother Schmuckers," gained critical acclaim at Sundance 2021.

Synopsis:

"Heads or Fails" follows Armande Pigeon, Brussels' reigning queen of misfortune. Known for her inability to resist a bet, she finds herself perpetually on the losing side. However, a fateful night brings a change of luck when she teams up with Ronnie, leading to an unprecedented winning streak that tests their judgment.

Production:

The comedy boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Maria Cavalier-Bazan in the lead role, alongside "Mother Schmuckers" alumni Axel Perin and Maxi Delmelle. The cast is rounded out by Michael Zindel, Claire Bodson, Melvil Poupaud, and Catherine Ringer.

"Heads or Fails" is a joint venture between Roue Libre Production, Fair Play Production, and the directors' Clubb Guitos banner. UFO Distribution is set to release the film in France on March 26.

Dark Star Pictures' Commitment:

"We are thrilled to bring 'Heads or Fails' to North American audiences," said Dark Star Pictures president Michael Repsch. "Working with the Guit brothers on their follow-up to 'Mother Schmuckers' showcases their growth as storytellers while maintaining their signature style of shocking comedy."

Best Friend Forever's Success:

The acquisition comes as Best Friend Forever, the sales agent behind "Heads or Fails," enjoys a strong presence at the Berlin Film Festival. The company's slate includes Kateryna Gornostai's "Timestamp" in competition and Jun Li's "Queerpanorama" in the Panorama section.
