Endemol Shine Australia Partners with Tokyo Broadcasting System for Global Format Development

Endemol Shine Australia (ESA), a subsidiary of Banijay Entertainment, has entered into an exclusive global partnership with Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS).

Co-Development Agreement

Through this agreement, ESA gains access to TBS's library of existing and upcoming formats. ESA will adapt and innovate these formats for Australian and international audiences. Banijay Entertainment has a first-look option to produce the co-developed titles domestically across its network.

"The Insider": First Co-Developed Format

The first TBS format in development with ESA is "The Insider," a strategic gameshow originally produced by Junya Ueda. ESA has reimagined and scaled the format as "The Insider," where celebrities engage in a strategic game while being pranked relentlessly. Unbeknownst to the other contestants, one celebrity is privy to the prank details and feigns their reactions.

Banijay's Commitment to Creativity

"Banijay Entertainment values its position as a beacon for global creative talent and an ally for industry leaders," said Banijay CEO Marco Bassetti. "This new partnership enables ESA to leverage TBS's portfolio and amplify its impact through global reach."

ESA's Track Record

"ESA has established a reputation for creating and elevating groundbreaking formats," added ESA CEO Peter Newman. "In collaboration with TBS, we aim to reinvent local formats for a worldwide audience. 'The Insider' is a testament to our shared vision of delivering captivating and entertaining content."

TBS's Global Expansion

TBS, one of Japan's largest media conglomerates, is credited with creating the iconic "Ninja Warrior" format. "FY2024 marks our 'First Year of Global Business,'" said TBS Holdings' Katsuaki Setoguchi. "We are excited to partner with Endemol Shine Australia and Banijay to bring innovative unscripted formats to the global stage."
