South Korean Actress Kim Sae-ron Found Dead at 24

South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, known for her acclaimed performances from a young age, has been found dead at her home in Seoul's Seongdong-gu district. She was 24 years old.

According to Reuters, Kim's body was discovered by a friend after she failed to meet for a scheduled appointment. Authorities have confirmed no indications of foul play and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

Born in Seoul in 2000, Kim began her acting career at the age of nine. She gained international recognition for her role in "A Brand New Life" (2009), showcasing her at the Cannes Film Festival as one of the youngest actors to attend the event. Her performance in "The Man From Nowhere" (2010) cemented her status as a rising star in Korean cinema.

Kim seamlessly transitioned from child roles to portraying complex characters, including notable performances in "The Neighbor" (2012) and "A Girl at My Door" (2014). Her television credits include "The Queen's Classroom" (2013), "Hi! School-Love On" (2014), and "Mirror of the Witch" (2016). She also starred in the 2018 action-thriller "The Villagers."

In May 2022, Kim faced personal and professional challenges due to a driving under the influence incident in Seoul's Gangnam District. The accident resulted in property damage and a fine. Subsequently, she took a hiatus from acting to focus on health concerns.

Kim was set to return to the screens with a role in the 2023 Netflix series "Bloodhounds," but most of her scenes were removed following the DUI incident. She also withdrew from the series "Trolley." Kim had been scheduled to make her acting comeback with the play "Dongchimi" in 2024 but stepped back from that as well. Local media reports indicated she was set to return to the big screen with "Guitar Man."
