Sundance and Berlinale Prizewinner "Ancestral Visions of the Future" Acquired by Memento International

Ahead of its world premiere at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, Memento International has secured the distribution rights for Lemohang Mosese's documentary feature, "Ancestral Visions of the Future."

Mosese, a Berlin-based filmmaker and visual artist, returns with this follow-up to his critically acclaimed "This Is Not a Burial, It's a Resurrection," which won the Sundance Jury Award for Visionary Filmmaking in 2020. "Ancestral Visions of the Future" blurs the lines between reality and reconstruction as Mosese explores his childhood in Lesotho, intertwining memories with the presence of his mother, a symbol of defiance.

The documentary, produced by Marie Balducchi and Mosese's Mokoari Street Media, features an ensemble cast and was supported by Arte La Lucarne, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the World Cinema Fund, the Doha Film Institute, and the Red Sea Film Festival Foundation.

Memento International, celebrating its 20th anniversary, adds this powerful and personal film to its slate, which includes other acclaimed titles such as "Dreams in Nightmares," "The Ugly Stepsiter," "Atropia," "Arenas," "Primavera," "Unidentified," and "Nino in Paradise."
