Map: "The Talent," a Glitzy Party-Set Psychological Thriller Starring Ester Expósito, to Hit Berlin Market

Film Factory Entertainment of Spain, which handles many of the biggest non-global streamer films in the country, has acquired worldwide rights (outside Spain) to "The Talent." The film will be presented at next month's European Film Market with a first promo.

"The Talent," which features rising "Elite" star Ester Expósito, is co-written and produced by Fernando León de Aranoa, who also directed the San Sebastian Film Festival Golden Shell winner "Mondays in the Sun." León de Aranoa has collaborated with Javier Bardem in multiple films, including the Oscar-shortlisted "The Good Boss," which won six 2021 Goya Awards and the European Film Award for Best Comedy.

Produced by León de Aranoa's Reposado PC and The Mediapro Studio, "The Talent" is directed by Polo Menárguez, known for episodes of Mariano Barroso's Amazon Prime Video hit "Los Farad" and his acclaimed 2019 feature debut "The Plan."

Expósito plays Elsa in "The Talent," a gifted cello student whose life is turned upside down when a phone call at a high-society party sets off a chain of events that challenge her values and dignity.

According to Film Factory, the film "explores how a young woman's life changes drastically over the course of a few hours." The Spanish press has quoted Menárguez as saying that the film addresses "a radical loss of class" as well as "machismo, of course, the abuse of power and impunity of powerful men."

The supporting cast includes Pedro Casablanc, who won the Best Actor award at the Feroz Awards for his role in "Querer."

"The Talent" is based on the 1924 novella "Fräulein Else" ("Miss Elsa") by Arthur Schnitzler. The Mediapro Studio, which produced the film alongside Reposado, has a strong track record of supporting films by acclaimed directors, including Oliver Stone, Roman Polanski, Jean-Jacques Annaud, Woody Allen, and Isabel Coixet.
