Woking, UK (February 17, 2023) - Rick Buckler, the drummer for the influential mod-punk band The Jam, has passed away at the age of 69. His death was confirmed by his bandmates, Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton, on social media.

Early Life and The Jam

Buckler formed The Jam in 1972 while still in secondary school. The trio's unique blend of punk, new wave, and soul propelled them to great success in the UK. They released 18 consecutive Top 40 singles, including the iconic "That's Entertainment" and "A Town Called Malice." The band disbanded in 1982.

Post-Jam Career

After The Jam, Buckler formed Time UK and later joined Sharp with Foxton. He also contributed drums to The Gift. In 2005, he co-founded The Gift and became its full-time drummer in 2011.

Personal Life and Legacy

Buckler published his autobiography, "That's Entertainment: My Life in the Jam," in 2015. He is survived by his wife, Lesley, and two children.

Weller paid tribute to Buckler, saying, "I'm thinking back to us all rehearsing in my bedroom ... We went far beyond our dreams and what we made stands the test of time."
