Amazon MGM Studios to Release Festival Hit "Superboys of Malegaon" Globally
Indian drama "Superboys of Malegaon" will grace theaters worldwide, following its successful festival circuit run at Toronto, London, Palm Springs, and Red Sea in 2024. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Reema Kagti, the film presents the true story of amateur filmmaker Nasir Shaikh.
Set in the small town of Malegaon, Maharashtra, "Superboys" explores Shaikh's journey as he unites local enthusiasts to create grassroots cinema for their community. It highlights the transformative power of filmmaking at the local level.
Starring rising stars Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, and Anuj Singh Duhan, the film boasts a powerhouse production team of Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, led by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Kagti.
"Following a group of small-town, DIY Indian filmmakers, Reema Kagti's ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ is a moving crowd-pleaser that constantly reaffirms its importance through its central theme," said Variety's Siddhant Aflakha.
After its theatrical run, "Superboys" will stream globally on Prime Video, reaching audiences in over 240 countries and territories on February 28th.
