The visual effects team at Wētā, led by VFX supervisor Erik Winquist, worked on over 1500 shots to bring "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" to life. Using advanced performance capture technology, they gave the apes even more realistic features and translated their facial expressions, sign language, and spoken English. The film features fire, water, and bird effects, and the technology allowed the team to push the visual effects further than ever before. Despite the challenges of action sequences and quieter moments, the team worked to maintain the magic and keep the audience immersed in the film.
