Anthony Ricco Files to Withdraw as Sean "Diddy" Combs' Lawyer in Federal Case

In a motion filed on Friday morning, Anthony Ricco, one of Sean "Diddy" Combs' lawyers, has requested to withdraw as counsel for the incarcerated mogul.

Ricco's motion provides limited reasons for his withdrawal, stating that, "Although I have provided Sean Combs with the high level of legal representation expected by the court, under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs." He further notes the existence of "sufficient reasons" protected by attorney-client privilege that prevent him from elaborating.

Ricco's motion requires approval from the judge and ensures that no delay will occur in jury selection or the trial itself. The motion indicates that Ricco has informed the government of his intention to withdraw, and the government has not taken a position on the matter.

Ricco was hired in September 2024 and is one of several lawyers representing Combs in his federal case. Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos will continue as counsel.

Combs is currently incarcerated in Brooklyn awaiting trial. He faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and unlawful prostitution. Last week, a lawsuit alleging sexual assault against Combs and Jay-Z was dismissed by a Jane Doe plaintiff. Combs has also filed a separate defamation lawsuit for $100 million against NBCUniversal, Peacock, and Ample Entertainment over their "Making of a Bad Boy" documentary.
