Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù Stars in Akinola Davies' Directorial Debut 'My Father's Shadow'

British actor Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù, known for his roles in "Gangs of London" and "Slow Horses," has been cast in the leading role of "My Father's Shadow."

Directed by British-Nigerian filmmaker Akinola Davies, the film is a semi-autobiographical exploration of the relationship between a father and his two sons in Nigeria. Co-written by Davies and his brother Wale Davies, it is a co-production of Element Pictures ("Normal People," "Poor Things"), BBC Film, and the British Film Institute.

Dìrísù has previously received critical acclaim for his performances in "His House," "Mr. Malcolm's List," "Mothering Sunday," and "Silent Night." He is represented by Markham, Froggatt and Irwin in the UK and WME in the US.

Davies, who made waves with his BAFTA-nominated short film "Lizard," is represented by Lark Management in the UK.

Mubi has acquired distribution rights for multiple territories including North America, the UK, Ireland, and Turkey.
