International Rights Acquisition

Celsius Entertainment has secured international sales rights for the film, written and directed by Elijah Bynum. The cast features Majors alongside Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, Harriet Sansom Harris, and Mike O'Hearn.

Synopsis

"Magazine Dreams" follows Killian Maddox (Majors), an aspiring bodybuilder driven by an obsession to grace the covers of fitness magazines. As he relentlessly pursues his dream, his quest for perfection fuels both self-destruction and a yearning for human connection.

Sundance Debut and Acclaim

The film garnered significant buzz after its debut at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, sparking a bidding war that resulted in its acquisition by Searchlight Pictures for a mid-seven-figure sum.

Recent History

In January 2024, Searchlight dropped the film following allegations of domestic violence against Majors. After a trial, he was found guilty of misdemeanor harassment and assault. Briarcliff acquired the film in October 2024.

Production and Executive Team

"Magazine Dreams" is produced by Jennifer Fox, Dan Gilroy, Jeffrey Soros, Simon Horsman, and Luke Rodgers. Executive producers include Andrew Blau, Morgan Earnest, Jonathan Majors, Tom Ortenberg, Lemuel Plummer, LJ Plummer, and Jason Tolbert.

Briarcliff's Reputation

Celsius' Thierry Wase-Bailey praised Briarcliff's track record of championing exceptional films that major studios tend to avoid, including Oscar winners like "Spotlight."
