Peacock Orders Crime Drama "Superfakes" from Alice Ju, Safdie Brothers

Peacock has commissioned a series order for "Superfakes," a crime drama from creator Alice Ju.

Ju serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, with Josh Safdie and Benny Safdie also executive producing alongside Howard Klein and Olivia Gerke of 3 Arts. Ronald Bronstein and Eli Bush join as additional executive producers. A24 and UCP will produce.

According to the official logline, "Superfakes" follows a small-time luxury counterfeit dealer in Chinatown who enters a perilous black market underworld to secure a suburban life for her family.

Ju's previous credits include an Emmy win as part of the producing team behind Netflix's "Beef," where she served as a writer and co-executive producer. She also wrote for and consulted on Peacock's "Poker Face," starring Natasha Lyonne, and worked on Netflix's "Russian Doll."

The Safdie Brothers recently collaborated with A24 on Showtime's "The Curse," which they executive produced under their Elara Pictures banner. Benny Safdie co-created, showran, and starred in the series. A24 also produced their acclaimed feature film "Uncut Gems."

Benny Safdie is currently preparing "The Smashing Machine" with Dwayne Johnson at A24, while Josh Safdie is working on "Marty Supreme" with Timothée Chalamet.
