New Mike Leigh Film in Production, Details Unveiled

UK cinemas mark the premiere of "Hard Truths" while teasing details of Mike Leigh's forthcoming feature.

Sparse details accompany the revered British director's new project, set to commence filming this year and reuniting Leigh with collaborators from "Hard Truths": Cornerstone, Bleecker Street, Studiocanal, and Film4. Bleecker Street retains US distribution rights, while StudioCanal secures UK rights.

Georgina Lowe of Thin Man Films, Leigh's production company, will reprise her role as producer. Desmar joins as an equity financier.

The announcement precedes the European Film Market, where Cornerstone will unveil the project to buyers.

Consistent with Leigh's approach, plot, cast, and title information remain undisclosed. The new film will provisionally be known as "Untitled 2025."

"Hard Truths," released earlier this year by Bleecker Street, stars Marianne Jean-Baptiste as a tormented woman facing her fears and conflicts. It garnered BAFTA nominations for Outstanding British Film and Leading Actress for Jean-Baptiste, marking her first collaboration with Leigh since "Secrets & Lies."
