"The Beloved": Javier Bardem to Star in Spanish Family Drama from Rodrigo Sorogoyen

Javier Bardem will lead "The Beloved," a Spanish-language family drama directed by award-winning filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen. The film stars Victoria Luengo alongside Bardem and explores the complexities of a strained father-daughter relationship.

Bardem portrays a temperamental film director who must collaborate with his aspiring actress daughter on a project. As they navigate the professional power dynamics, they confront a painful past that threatens to unravel their relationship. Sorogoyen penned the screenplay.

Caballo Films, Sorogoyen's production company, is producing the film alongside Movistar Plus+ and Le Pacte. Le Pacte will handle the French distribution.

Bardem recently received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in Netflix's "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez." He has starred in recent films such as "Dune: Part Two," Disney's "The Little Mermaid" remake, and lent his voice to "Spellbound." His last Spanish-language feature was the 2021 comedy "The Good Boss," Spain's Oscar entry in 2022.

Sorogoyen's previous work includes the acclaimed series "The New Years," which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and the award-winning film "The Beasts," which garnered critical acclaim and box office success internationally.
