Oscar-winning actor and activist George Clooney has delivered a scathing critique of the Trump administration, accusing it of fostering a climate where "facts don't matter."
In an interview with The New York Times, Clooney lamented that people now "make up a narrative" without regard for truth or consequences. "It's like letting an infant walk across the freeway," he said, referring to the current political landscape.
Clooney expressed concern about the erosion of societal norms and the rise of authoritarianism. "The idea of history bending towards justice doesn't feel that way right now," he remarked. "There are these pendulum swings, and I believe Trump's election was the result of eight years of a Black president."
The actor also criticized the Biden administration for failing to convey the strengths of the U.S. economy. "They were bad at telling the story," he said, blaming poor communication for Biden's low approval ratings.
Clooney addressed the potential CBS News settlement over a "60 Minutes" interview with Kamala Harris. "It would be chilling for the press," he warned, echoing Jake Tapper's comments. "It's saying we won't speak truth to power."
