Globoplay, the leading streaming service in Brazil, proudly announces "Reincarnate," its first original horror series. Set to premiere at the prestigious Berlinale Series Market Selects, "Reincarnate" offers a captivating blend of suspense, mystery, and supernatural elements.

Synopsis

"Reincarnate" follows Tulio, a former cop released from prison after enduring 18 years of confinement for killing his partner, Caio. On the day of his freedom, Tulio is visited by a teenager claiming to be Caio's reincarnation. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey to unravel Caio's murder, uncover the true killer, and restore Tulio's shattered honor.

Authentically Brazilian Horror

Directed by Noa Bressane and Igor Verde, "Reincarnate" boasts an exceptional cast led by Taís Araujo, Julia Dalavia, and Grace Passô. The writers, led by Juan Jullian, Elísio Lopes Jr., Amanda Jordão, and Flávia Lacerda, have crafted a thrilling narrative that explores the essence of Brazilian horror while resonating with global audiences.

In an interview with Variety, Verde emphasized the team's commitment to creating a series that authentically captures the cultural context of Brazil. "This is a story about identity and the fundamental question: who am I? By challenging the concept of identity, we question the very essence of life and death," he said.

Collective Creation and Inspiration

The writing process for "Reincarnate" was a collaborative effort, with all writers contributing to every character and episode. "This allowed for a richer and more nuanced storytelling experience," explained Jordão.

The writers drew inspiration from various sources, including "American Horror Story: Coven," "Lovecraft Country," "Silence of the Lambs," and Jordan Peele's filmography. By infusing these iconic horror tropes with Brazilian folklore and themes, they created a unique and compelling experience.

Representation and Inclusion

"Reincarnate" stands out for its diverse cast, which reflects the multicultural fabric of Brazilian society. "Black, LGBTQIA, and indigenous actors play prominent roles," said Jullian. "This is a testament to our commitment to inclusive storytelling and showcasing the richness of our country."

Berlinale Recognition

The selection of "Reincarnate" as one of three Brazilian series at this year's Berlinale Series Market Selects is a testament to its international appeal. "This platform allows our stories to transcend borders and reach wider audiences," said Lopes Jr. "We hope that 'Reincarnate' will intrigue and captivate viewers worldwide."
