Daisy Ridley's "Star Wars" Movie Script in Development with George Nolfi

Lucasfilm has appointed George Nolfi ("The Bourne Ultimatum") to write the screenplay for Daisy Ridley's untitled "Star Wars" film. The project, initially titled "Star Wars: New Jedi Order," remains in development under Oscar-winning director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

Nolfi replaces previous writers Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson, as well as Steven Knight, who departed in 2024. Despite the changes, the film's premise stays consistent: Rey, portrayed by Ridley, mentors a new generation of Jedi.

Lucasfilm's commitment to the project was reinforced with Nolfi's hiring, despite the removal of a "Star Wars" film from Disney's 2026 release schedule. The decision suggests that the Ridley film requires more development before production can commence.

However, a "Star Wars" film directed by Shawn Levy and potentially starring Ryan Gosling is expected to precede Ridley's project, following "The Mandalorian & Grogu."

Nolfi's previous writing credits include "Ocean's 12" and "The Bourne Ultimatum," while his directing credits include "The Adjustment Bureau," "The Banker," and "Elevation."
