Banijay Expands Scripted Division Leadership

Banijay Entertainment, the European television giant, has restructured its global scripted division and elevated two executives.

Steve Matthews has been appointed Head of Scripted, Creative, while Johannes Jensen assumes the role of Head of Scripted, Business. Together, they will oversee the division's strategic direction, reporting to Chief Business Officer Frédéric Balmary.

Matthews, a former HBO executive, joined Banijay in early 2023 and has initiated initiatives to foster collaboration among the company's global labels. Jensen's expanded role includes managing the financial and operational aspects of the scripted division, drawing on his experience leading Jarowskij and Yellow Bird.

"Our scripted portfolio continues to flourish, with a surge in award-winning and critically acclaimed content," said Balmary. "The enhanced roles for Steve and Johannes will bolster our creative and business prowess, driving innovation and solidifying our global leadership position."

The restructured division also includes Senior Director Denis Leroy, who specializes in acquiring and developing international scripted formats and literary adaptations. Leroy has facilitated successful adaptations such as "SKAM," "Fleabag," and "La Caza. Monterpedido" in France, as well as securing deals for prominent French IP like Franck Thilliez and Michael Bussi.
