Weekend Update Host Ranking Unveiled by Bill Murray at SNL 50th Anniversary Special

On Sunday, the 50th anniversary special of "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) featured a special segment of "Weekend Update" where legendary cast member Bill Murray unveiled his ranking of the segment's past hosts.

Black Host Ranking

Murray began by ranking "Weekend Update's" Black hosts, declaring current co-host Michael Che as the undisputed number one, given the fact that Che remains the only Black host in the show's history.

Regular Host Ranking

Murray then proceeded to rank the "regular" hosts of "Weekend Update" in a top 10 format. Notably, he excluded himself from consideration due to his past drug use.

Colin Quinn placed 10th, followed by Kevin Nealon, Dennis Miller, and Seth Meyers. Murray placed Tina Fey and Amy Poehler ahead of Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey, acknowledging the enduring popularity of "girl on girl" pairings.

Cornelius Crane Chase, aka Conny, was ranked fourth, with Murray emphasizing his indispensable role in the segment's legacy.

Jane Curtin and Dan Aykroyd shared the third spot, while Norm Macdonald secured second place.

Number One Revelation

At the pinnacle of the ranking, Murray teased the audience with the promise of Colin Jost appearing on the list. However, the top entry was ultimately revealed to be "funny, with a great smile, and currently sleeping every kind of way with the lovely actress Scarlett Johansson": Bill Murray's brother, Brian Doyle-Murray!

Drunk Uncle Interlude

Earlier in the segment, Bobby Moynihan reprised his iconic Drunk Uncle character to offer his perspective on current events. His intoxicated musings included references to "Land Shark," "Brian Fellows Safari Planet," and "musical guest Timothée Chalamet," culminating in a fervent chant of "Cheeseburger Cheeseburger Cheeseburger."
