Unifrance Unveils Impressive Lineup for Series Mania 2023
Unifrance has announced its comprehensive program for the 15th edition of Series Mania, scheduled from March 21st to 28th. This year's festival will present a diverse selection of 48 series from 20 countries, including 22 captivating French shows, offering an immersive experience for television enthusiasts and industry professionals.
Series Mania Forum, the industry component of the festival, will take place from March 25th to 27th, connecting over 4,200 professionals from more than 70 countries. Within this framework, Unifrance will showcase Coming Next from France on March 25th, spotlighting five groundbreaking French series poised to make their mark on the international market. These series encompass "Kitchen Hustle" from France TV, "Fake" from Have a Good One, "Don't Know" from Mediawan Rights, "Montmartre" from Newen Content, and "Jailbreakers" from Oble, showcasing the innovation and diversity of French television production.
French Television Continues Global Success
French drama remains a global force, with 2023 exports reaching an impressive €74.5 million ($77.8 million), a significant surge from the ten-year average of €54.9 million ($57.3 million). Scripted drama remains the top export category for the second consecutive year, accounting for 36.6% of total sales.
Unifrance Presence at Series Mania
Unifrance's presence at the festival extends beyond screenings. The organization will collaborate with Series Mania Forum to host a welcoming reception on March 24th, kickstarting networking opportunities for industry attendees. Additionally, Unifrance will provide its members with a dedicated space in the Business Lounge for meetings and collaborations.
French Shows Dominate Festival Sections
French series will grace the festival's various sections, from the Opening and Closing ceremonies to the International Competition, Panorama, and more. Notable French TV and film personalities, such as actress Karin Viard and composer Victor Le Masne, will lend their expertise as jury members, adding to the star-studded ambiance of the event.
