Trump Takes Over Kennedy Center, Faces Resignations from Board Members

President Trump has been elected Chairman of the Kennedy Center Board, solidifying his control over the Washington, D.C. arts institution.

The move follows Trump's dismissal of several board members appointed by former President Joe Biden, and coincides with the appointment of Richard Grenell, Trump's envoy for special missions, as interim executive director.

Trump has criticized the Kennedy Center for its programming, which he has deemed "anti-American." He has pledged to eliminate "woke" content and focus on "the best" performances.

The announcement triggered swift reactions from prominent entertainment figures. Board treasurer Shonda Rhimes, appointed by former President Barack Obama, resigned in protest. Artistic advisor Renée Fleming and National Symphony Orchestra artistic advisor Ben Folds have also stepped down from their roles.

The newly constituted Kennedy Center Board includes White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Second Lady Usha Vance. Deborah Rutter, the outgoing president of the Center, has been terminated.

The Kennedy Center's upcoming season features revivals of popular musicals such as "Les Misérables" and "Legally Blonde," as well as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of "Dungeons & Dragons."
