Quiz Show 'The 1% Club' Renewed for Season 2 on Fox with Joel McHale as Host

The trivia competition series "The 1% Club" has secured a second season on Fox, following its initial streaming run on Amazon Prime Video. Season 2 will feature Joel McHale as the host, taking over from previous host Patton Oswalt.

Each episode of "The 1% Club" pits 100 contestants against a series of questions designed to test their logic, reasoning, and common sense. The aim is to eliminate contestants until only one remains, who must answer a question that only 1% of the country can correctly answer to claim a $100,000 prize.

Based on an international format created by Dean Nabarro and Andy Auerbach, "The 1% Club" is produced by BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions and Magnum Media. Nabarro and Auerbach serve as executive producers alongside Ryan O'Dowd and Krystal Whitney for BBC. Wes Kauble is the showrunner.

The original version of "The 1% Club" premiered on ITV in the UK in 2022, and BBC has since licensed the format to numerous countries, including the Netherlands, Australia, Germany, France, Israel, Spain, Turkey, Mexico, Greece, Ukraine, Hungary, and the US.

Joel McHale is well-known for his leading role as Jeff Winger in the NBC sitcom "Community" (2009-2015) and for hosting several unscripted shows, including "The Soup" on E! from 2004 to 2015. He currently hosts the E! reality competition "House of Villains" and Fox's baking competition "Crime Scene Kitchen." McHale also stars in the Fox sitcom "Animal Control," which is in its third season.

Fox Television Network President Michael Thorn expressed excitement about McHale's involvement in "The 1% Club": "Joel's comedic timing and hosting charm are exceptional, and we're thrilled to bring his unrivaled energy and charisma to Season 2 of 'The 1% Club.' We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Joel and continuing our partnership with the talented teams at BBC Studios and Magnum."

McHale commented: "I'm ecstatic to be hosting 'The 1% Club' on Fox. I adore the show and gameplay, and I can guarantee my wardrobe will look great at least 68% of the time."

Ryan O'Dowd, President of Unscripted for BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions, said: "Joel McHale's comedic genius makes him the ideal host for 'The 1% Club.' His unpredictable style will captivate audiences as he engages with our contestants and challenges their intellect. 'The 1% Club' has been a global success, and we're delighted to partner with Fox and their team, who share our vision for the show."
