Sony Corp. Reorganizes Leadership
Hiroki Totoki becomes CEO, Hideaki Nishino to lead Sony Interactive Entertainment

Effective April 1, Sony Corp. has announced significant leadership changes. Hiroki Totoki, a 38-year Sony veteran and current COO and CFO, will succeed Kenichiro Yoshida as CEO. This transition marks a strategic evolution as Yoshida has consistently emphasized the company's mission to "fill the world with emotion, through the power of creativity and technology."

Totoki will lead Sony Corp. as President and CEO, supported by a restructured senior leadership team. Recent leadership appointments include Ravi Ahuja as CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

"I am incredibly honored and humbled to have been entrusted with the important role of President and CEO," said Totoki. "I will do my utmost to further build on the success of my predecessors and pass on an even better Sony to the next generation."

Hideaki Nishino has been promoted to CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the unit responsible for PlayStation. Nishino previously served as CEO of SIE's Platform Business Group, overseeing PlayStation hardware and platform operations. He takes over from Jim Ryan, whose departure was announced in May 2024.

"I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment," said Nishino. "We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation."

In addition to his role as CEO of SIE, Nishino will lead the Platform Business Group and Studio Business Group. Herman Hulst will continue to lead the development, publishing, and business operations of SIE's first-party content. Hulst will also drive Sony's efforts to adapt PlayStation gaming franchises into TV shows, movies, and other media through PlayStation Productions.

Other key appointments include Lin Tao as Sony Corp.'s first female CFO and Shinji Sashida as head of the Imaging and Sensing Solutions division.

Yoshida, who has led Sony since 2018, expressed confidence in Totoki's leadership: "Based on Hiroki Totoki's contributions to Sony, including his achievements since being appointed as President and COO in April 2023, I proposed to the management team that he succeed me as CEO this April. I am grateful to the Nominating Committee and the Board for their support of this proposal."
