Scream 7: Ghostface Returns in Top Form

Mason Gooding, star of "Scream 7," reveals that the iconic horror villain, Ghostface, is more brutal than ever in the upcoming installment, directed by Kevin Williamson, the writer of the original 1996 masterpiece.

"It feels like an intensification of what we've seen before, and there's no better indication than having Kevin Williamson, the original writer, returning to direct," Gooding shared. "I believe Ghostface is at his most ruthless. Without spoiling anything, let's just say Kevin pushes the boundaries with what they do to the human body."

Gooding describes "Scream 7" as "sickening, yet in a good way," highlighting the impressive work of the special effects team.

"There was a prosthetic in the makeup trailer that genuinely made me nauseous," Gooding said. "You'll understand once you see it, but it's extraordinary. They have a remarkable special effects team that goes above and beyond."

Gooding is particularly thrilled to collaborate with Neve Campbell, the original "Scream" starlet, who was absent from "Scream 5."

"I have the privilege of working with Neve [in 'Scream 7'], whom I didn't have the opportunity to interact with on a personal level [on 'Scream 5']," Gooding explained. "Being around her now feels like I'm connecting with that history, and it enriches the experience."

Notably, Williamson's return marks his first time directing a "Scream" film. He penned the screenplay for the original "Scream" in 1996 and joined the project as director after Christopher Landon exited.

"Scream 7" reunites Gooding and Courteney Cox from previous installments. Joining the cast are Joel McHale, Isabel May, Mark Consuelos, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp.

The highly anticipated sequel is scheduled for release on February 27, 2023, distributed by Paramount Pictures and produced by Spyglass Media.
