RT Features Backs Gabe Klinger's São Paulo-Set Wine Dramedy "Isabel"

RT Features, responsible for Walter Salles' Oscar-nominated "I'm Still Here," is now backing Gabe Klinger's "Isabel," a São Paulo-set drama following the world of wine. The film is currently in post-production.

Klinger's previous film, "Porto," received theatrical distribution in over 40 markets after its San Sebastián premiere in 2016.

"Isabel" centers around a woman in her early 50s navigating the challenges of opening her own wine bar after working as head sommellier at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Shot on location in São Paulo in December, the feature-length project was directed by Klinger from his original screenplay co-written with lead actress Marina Person. The cast includes Caio Horowicz ("I'm Still Here") and John Ortiz ("American Fiction").

The film explores themes of passion, setbacks, and determination as the protagonist confronts the obstacles of seeking investment and realizing her dream.

Klinger draws parallels between the film's protagonist and his own experiences in filmmaking. "Through this flawed character, I was able to shift focus from the challenges I face in cinema to wine appreciation," he says.

Co-produced by Frédéric Corvez for Urban Factory and VideoFilmes, "Isabel" features executive producers Gill Holland and Michael Richter, with Laila Pas and João Pedro Pereira-Webber as additional producers. International sales rights belong to Urban Sales.
