Paul Simon Announces 'Quiet Celebration Tour' after Semi-Retirement from Live Concerts

Following his opening performance with Sabrina Carpenter at the "SNL50" special, Paul Simon has announced his return to live concerts. The "Quiet Celebration Tour" will feature intimate performances in mid-sized venues, focusing on his recent album "Seven Psalms" and selections from his vast catalog.

Tour Highlights

* Begins April 4th in New Orleans and ends in August in Seattle
* Includes five nights at New York's Beacon Theatre and L.A.'s Walt Disney Concert Hall
* Three nights each at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium and Toronto's Massey Hall
* Total of 50 shows in 20 cities

Return to Performances

In 2018, Simon announced his retirement from live concerts due to hearing loss. However, he has since worked with the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss to redesign his stage setup, making live performances viable again.

'Seven Psalms' Album

Simon's latest album, "Seven Psalms," was released in 2023 and was critically acclaimed. Variety praised it as "quietly stunning" and a "song cycle that's in turn mysterious, sobering, funny, God-haunted, agnostic, lovestruck, pragmatic about mortality, and still caught up in miracle and wonder."

Band and Tickets

Simon will be joined by a band including Caleb Burhans, Jamey Haddad, Gyan Riley, Mick Rossi, Andy Snitzer, Nancy Stagnita, Mark Stewart, Eugene Friesen, Steve Gadd, and Matt Chamberlin.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. local time.
