Paddington in Peru Approaches $100 Million Milestone at International Box Office

"Paddington in Peru," the third installment in the beloved Paddington bear trilogy, is nearing the $100 million milestone at the international box office.

As of February 14, the film has raked in $93.2 million from 51 overseas territories. While these ticket sales show promise for the family-friendly adventure, it still falls short of the $249 million earned by each of the previous "Paddington" films internationally.

However, "Paddington in Peru" has yet to open in major markets such as France, South Korea, Italy, Spain, and Japan. These releases hold the potential to significantly boost the film's revenue.

The first two "Paddington" films, based on Michael Bond's children's book series, have collectively grossed over $500 million worldwide. StudioCanal fully financed the third installment, with Sony handling distribution in certain regions, including the United States, United Kingdom, and France.

Directed by Dougal Wilson, "Paddington in Peru" follows the beloved bear's journey to Peru, where he visits his Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears. The Brown family accompanies him, leading to an unexpected adventure through the Amazon rainforest and the Peruvian mountains. Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton reprise their roles as Paddington and Aunt Lucy, while Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Antonio Banderas, and Olivia Colman round out the cast.

"Dog Man" Underwhelms at International Box Office

Universal and DreamWorks Animation's "Dog Man" has struggled to find its footing at the international box office, grossing only $4.2 million from 30 markets in its opening weekend. Spain and Mexico accounted for the majority of the earnings, with $1 million and $699,000 respectively.

Despite a disappointing overseas turnout, "Dog Man" has a modest production budget of $40 million and has performed relatively well in North America, where it has grossed $36 million. Based on Dav Pilkey's popular children's graphic novel series, the film follows a human police officer who merges with his faithful dog after a workplace accident.

"Companion" Debuts Behind "Dog Man" Internationally

Warner Bros. and New Line's R-rated sci-fi thriller "Companion" debuted behind "Dog Man" internationally despite playing in twice as many territories. The film earned $5.5 million from 60 overseas markets, bringing its global gross to $15 million.

"Companion" stars Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid in a twisted love story about a weekend getaway that goes awry when the friends discover one of them is a companion robot.
