"Octopus with Broken Arms" Continues Dominance at Chinese Box Office

"Octopus with Broken Arms" led the Chinese box office for a fifth consecutive weekend, grossing RMB 51.2 million ($7.1 million) from January 24-26, as reported by Artisan Gateway.

The crime thriller has now amassed $126 million, solidifying its position as 2025's first box office hit.

"Honey Money Phony" maintained its second-place position with $4.5 million in its fifth weekend, while "Big World" remained in third place with $2.5 million.

In fourth place, "Detective Conan: Crossroad in the Ancient Capital" debuted with $1.1 million, bringing its total to $19.9 million.

Debuting in fifth place, "Operation Hadal" grossed $1.1 million in previews before its Lunar New Year release.

The weekend's total box office revenue reached $21.5 million, marking a decrease from the previous weekend's $26.4 million. However, China's cumulative box office for 2025 stands at $251.5 million, indicating a significant boost is anticipated during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.
