Khaby Lame Appointed as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador

Khaby Lame, the most-followed creator on TikTok with over 162 million followers, has been named a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. In this role, Lame will utilize his global platform to raise awareness of children's rights worldwide, including education, empowerment of girls, protection from abuse, and access to healthcare and a healthy environment.

The Senegalese-born Italian social media personality gained fame on TikTok for his wordless comedic reaction videos. He has leveraged his platform to advocate for children and inspire others to do the same.

"It's an honor to be a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and join an organization that prioritizes children's rights," Lame stated. "My personal experiences as a child who faced poverty, struggled in school, and lost his job during the pandemic have shown me the importance of providing opportunities for all children to thrive."

Lame joins an esteemed list of UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, including Ishmael Beah, David Beckham, and Shakira. The appointment was officially announced in Senegal, where Lame met with young people making positive changes in their communities.

"Khaby is a passionate advocate for children and young people," said UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell. "His creativity and unique perspective will continue to inspire others to use their voices and share their stories."
