Kate Winslet to Make Directorial Debut with 'Goodbye June' for Netflix

Academy Award winner Kate Winslet is venturing into directing with her first feature film, "Goodbye June," a heartwarming family drama set to premiere on Netflix.

Winslet will helm the film, which she also stars in alongside an esteemed cast including Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, and Helen Mirren. Kate Solomon produces alongside Winslet, with Working Title serving as executive producers.

Scripted by Winslet's son, Joe Anders, "Goodbye June" follows a group of estranged siblings who reunite under unforeseen circumstances, as per the film's synopsis. The film is currently in pre-production and will begin filming in the United Kingdom later this year.

While this marks Winslet's directorial debut, she has been deeply involved in the filmmaking process before, notably in Ellen Kuras's "Lee," which she co-produced and starred in as photographer Lee Miller. She is currently nominated alongside Solomon for Outstanding British Film at the BAFTA awards.
