Justin Baldoni Challenges Blake Lively's Subpoenas for Phone Records
Justin Baldoni has filed a request with the court to prevent Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds from accessing his phone and text records. Baldoni claims that these records could expose his location data and browsing history.
In a letter to the judge, Baldoni's attorney, Mitchell Schuster, argues that Lively's subpoenas are "flagrantly overbroad." He writes that "these Subpoenas are unusually broad, intrusive, and atypical."
Lively's attorneys have subpoenaed AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile to obtain evidence for their claim that Baldoni, their director and co-star in "It Ends With Us," engaged in an unlawful smear campaign against her after she filed a sexual harassment complaint.
In response to Baldoni's objections, a Lively spokesperson stated, "If they have so many receipts, why are they so afraid to produce them?"
Baldoni and Lively are involved in a lawsuit against each other in federal court in New York, with Reynolds, publicists, communications operatives, and the New York Times also being drawn into the case. Baldoni alleges that Lively destroyed his reputation with false accusations.
Lively's attorneys have also subpoenaed Jed Wallace, a crisis consultant, and internet providers Cloudflare and AOL. Lively's team aims to "expose the network of individuals" involved in tarnishing her reputation.
Baldoni's team has accused Lively's side of engaging in a "massive fishing expedition."
The subpoenas seek call logs, text logs, data logs, and cell site location information dating back to December 1, 2022, for Baldoni and several other individuals associated with the case.
Schuster argues that the request is "wildly disproportionate" and violates the privacy of third parties. He also suggests that the subpoenas are a "media ploy," as they were leaked to the press with a combative statement.
Baldoni's lawyer has requested the judge to address the dispute promptly.
Lively's spokesperson maintains that the records will "expose" the remaining pieces of the story, despite Baldoni's denials.
