John Ross Bowie Reprises Role for 'Big Bang Theory' Spinoff at Max

Variety has confirmed that John Ross Bowie has joined the cast of the 'Big Bang Theory' spinoff in development at Max. Bowie will reprise his role as Barry Kripke, continuing the popular character's story alongside Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and Kevin Sussman.

In the original series, Kripke was a physicist at CalTech and a frequent rival of Sheldon Cooper. Bowie initially joined the show in Season 2 and remained a series regular throughout its 12-season run.

Beyond his time on 'The Big Bang Theory,' Bowie has starred in 'Speechless' on ABC, 'Children's Hospital' on Adult Swim, and films like 'The Heat' and 'Sex Drive.'

The potential spinoff was announced in April 2023 and will be executive produced by 'Big Bang Theory' co-creator Chuck Lorre. Zak Penn and Bill Prady will also serve as executive producers.

While plot details remain undisclosed, this series would mark the fourth installment in the 'Big Bang Theory' universe, following the original show, prequel 'Young Sheldon,' and spinoff 'Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.'

Deadline first reported Bowie's involvement in the spinoff.
