Jane Tranter to Chair 2025 Edinburgh TV Festival's 50th Anniversary

Jane Tranter has been appointed as the Advisory Chair for the 2025 Edinburgh TV Festival, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of its prestigious MacTaggart Lecture.

As a renowned TV executive and the founder of Bad Wolf Productions, Tranter will collaborate with Creative Director Rowan Woods to shape the festival's editorial direction. With a distinguished career spanning executive roles at BBC and HBO, Tranter brings extensive industry experience to this prestigious role.

The 2025 festival will introduce innovative programming changes, featuring an open call for session ideas and producers. Town hall meetings across the UK will also facilitate community involvement in shaping the event's agenda.

Expanding its accessibility initiatives, the festival will offer increased bursaries and a dedicated program for first-time attendees.

"The UK TV industry has thrived over the past half-century, thanks to the diverse and talented voices on and off screen," said Tranter. "The Edinburgh TV Festival has fostered passionate debates throughout its history, and for its 50th anniversary, I eagerly anticipate a vibrant and celebratory discourse."

Fatima Salaria, Festival Chair, commended Tranter as a "true powerhouse" renowned for her "wit and daring spirit." Previous Edinburgh TV Festival speakers include industry luminaries such as Jesse Armstrong, Billy Connolly, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
