Maya Hawke Recounts Being Advised to Close Her Mouth for Beauty

On the recent episode of the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, actress Maya Hawke opened up about an experience with an unnamed director or producer who suggested she close her mouth more often to enhance her appearance.

Hawke, known for her roles in "Stranger Things" and "Inside Out 2," revealed that the comment was made in reference to her character's uninhibited nature. She described the advice as an "aesthetic desire" that clashed with the character's personality and her own artistic expression.

"I do often let my mouth hang open depending on what character I'm playing," Hawke explained. "I think jaw tension is important in conveying a character's personality."

Despite her frustration, Hawke declined to publicly express her displeasure at the time. During the podcast, she humorously responded to host Josh Horowitz's question about this by saying, "I mean, you've talked to me for 30 minutes. What do you think?"

Hawke's career has included roles in "Asteroid City," "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," and "Maestro." She will reprise her role in the upcoming final season of "Stranger Things" later this year.
