Harvey Weinstein's Trial Rescheduled Amid Health Concerns

The retrial of disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein is scheduled for April 15, but the defendant has requested an earlier start due to his health conditions.

During a hearing in a Manhattan court on Wednesday, Weinstein addressed Judge Curtis J. Farber, pleading for a trial date sooner than April. He stated his health was declining and expressed concern that he might not survive until the scheduled date.

"I can't hold on," Weinstein told the judge, according to People Magazine. "I'm begging for you to move the date…I want to be out of this hellhole."

Weinstein has been diagnosed with various medical conditions, including bone marrow cancer, leukemia, diabetes, coronary artery disease, and sleep apnea. He has been receiving treatment at Bellevue Hospital and underwent emergency heart surgery in September.

Weinstein's legal team has argued that his health is rapidly deteriorating and that he may not be able to participate fully in a trial scheduled for April 15. They have requested a trial date as early as April 7.

The judge is expected to make a decision on Weinstein's request soon.
