Norwegian Monster Pic "Kraken" Secures European Distribution Deals

The Norwegian monster epic "Kraken," directed by Pål Øie, has secured distribution partnerships with Splendid Film (Germany), Mediawan Rights (France), and Youplanet (Spain) ahead of its 2025 release. These agreements follow previous sales to North America (Samuel Goldwyn Films) and Latin America (Gussi).

Inspired by the enigmatic sea creature of legend, "Kraken" follows marine biologist Johanne as she investigates peculiar incidents linked to a local fjord. As ominous events unfold, she unveils a chilling truth lurking beneath the water's depths: a colossal, multi-armed monster capable of wreaking havoc.

John Einar Hagen and Einar Loftesnes of Nordisk Film Production, who produced Øie's 2019 film "The Tunnel," reunite with the director on "Kraken," in collaboration with Handmade Films in Norwegian Woods. The production received substantial funding from the Norwegian Film Institute, Mediefondet Zefyr, Vestnorsk Filmcenter, Business Finland, and the cities of Turku and Tampere.

International sales are managed by TrustNordisk, which is actively engaging with buyers at the ongoing EFM.
