Prime Video Unveils Quirky Comedy Series "Dupahiya": A Heartfelt Blend of Small-Town Charm and Captivating Caper

"Dupahiya," an upcoming Prime Video original series, brings a captivating blend of humor, heart, and small-town charm to the screen. This nine-episode series, produced by the Bombay Film Cartel banner, follows the mayhem that unfolds in the fictional Indian village of Dhadakpur.

When a prized motorcycle vanishes, the tranquility of Dhadakpur's 25-year crime-free anniversary is shattered. The series title, "Dupahiya," translates to "two-wheeler" in Hindi, hinting at the central role of the missing vehicle in the ensuing chaos.

Helmed by acclaimed director Sonam Nair, "Dupahiya" boasts an impressive cast led by veteran actors Gajraj Rao ("Badhaai Ho") and Renuka Shahane ("Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!"). Joining them are rising stars Bhuvan Arora, Sparsh Shrivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and the versatile character actor Yashpal Sharma.

Creators and executive producers Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani, under their Bombay Film Cartel banner, bring their vision to life with a script penned by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg.

"The series seamlessly weaves together humor, emotion, and the vibrant essence of rural India, making it both unique and universally accessible," says Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals at Prime Video India. He emphasizes the show's alignment with the platform's commitment to supporting fresh voices and female-led productions.

Director Nair describes "Dupahiya" as a testament to the "joy, chaos, and quirks of small-town life." Creators Joshi and Shivdasani highlight its focus on "family, laughter, and the aspirations of everyday people."

"Dupahiya" premieres exclusively on Prime Video in India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide on March 7th. It joins the platform's growing library of acclaimed originals, including "Paatal Lok," "Mirzapur," "Poacher," and "Indian Police Force."
