Doechii Dominates Grammys with Electrifying Performance

At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Doechii captivated the audience with a riveting dual performance of "Catfish" and "Denial is a River," culminating an unforgettable evening that saw her triumph as the winner of Best Rap Album for "Alligator Bites Never Heal."

The performance commenced with an industrial rendition of "Catfish," as Doechii delivered her verses against a massive backlit fan while dancers clad in gray moved seamlessly below. Transitioning to a ground-level setting, she shed her layers and embarked on a treadmill-set performance of "Denial is a River" that left the audience spellbound.

Doechii graced the stage as the second performer in a medley featuring fellow nominees Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, Shaboozey, and Raye. Her electrifying presence and exceptional artistry earned rapturous applause and a stunned exclamation of "Oh my God!" from Billie Eilish.

With her victory in the Best Rap Album category, Doechii joins Lauryn Hill and Cardi B as only the third woman to achieve this milestone in its 30-year history. Notably, Cardi B presented Doechii with her inaugural Grammy Award.

This year marked Doechii's first Grammy nominations, including Best Rap Performance ("Nissan Altima") and Best New Artist.

The Tampa-based rapper rose to stardom in 2021 with her viral hit "Yucky Blucky Fruitcake." She became the first female rapper signed to Top Dawg Entertainment in partnership with Capitol Records. Doechii's Billboard Hot 100 debut came in 2023 with "What It Is (Block Boy)" featuring Kodak Black, a certified platinum track.

Doechii's meteoric rise continued with a successful tour supporting Doja Cat's "Scarlet" tour and the release of her critically acclaimed mixtape "Alligator Bites Never Heal" in 2024. Her breakout Tiny Desk Concert and collaboration with Issa Rae for "Denial Is a River" further solidified her standing as a rising star. In December 2024, Variety recognized Doechii as the Hip-Hop Disruptor of the Year in their Hitmakers issue.
