Captain America: Brave New World Debuts as Box Office Leader

Marvel Studios' latest installment, "Captain America: Brave New World," has made a resounding debut, earning $12 million in Thursday previews.

Projected to gross an impressive $80-85 million over the traditional weekend and $90-95 million including the extended President's Day holiday, the film has surpassed the box office's previous openings of the year.

Internationally, the film is anticipated to generate $110 million, potentially facing competition from China's "Ne Zha 2" and "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy." "Brave New World" boasts a production budget of over $180 million, excluding marketing costs.

Featuring Anthony Mackie's debut as the new Captain America, the film follows Sam Wilson's journey after assuming the mantle in "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier." The cast includes Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, transforming into the Red Hulk, along with Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, and more.

Also opening domestically is "Paddington in Peru," the third installment in the beloved franchise. It earned $600,000 in Thursday previews and is expected to gross $15-17 million over the holiday weekend, having already accumulated $103 million internationally.
