Britain's Railway and Bollywood Titan Collaborate for Cultural Milestone

In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Britain's railway system and the 30th anniversary of Yash Raj Films' legendary blockbuster "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (DDLJ), the two organizations have joined forces for a cultural extravaganza.

"Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical"

The centerpiece of the collaboration is "Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical," a stage adaptation of the iconic 1995 film. Premiering at Manchester Opera House on May 29, the production will reimagine the beloved romance between Simran (an Indian-British woman) and Roger (a British man).

With an international creative team and original English songs by renowned Indian composers Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani, the musical promises a captivating theatrical experience.

Railway and Bollywood Synergy

The collaboration highlights the enduring connection between railways and film, as trains have served as both romantic settings and cultural symbols. The original "DDLJ" famously featured romantic scenes at London's King's Cross Railway Station.

Railway 200 Executive Director Suzanne Donnelly expressed the organization's delight in partnering with Yash Raj Films, emphasizing the railway's inspiration for filmmakers and its role in shaping cultural landscapes.

Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion

YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani noted the significance of the collaboration in spreading the message of unifying love and celebrating diversity and inclusivity. The musical will feature activities at railway stations in Manchester and London, fostering a wider connection across cultures.

Legacy of DDLJ

The original "DDLJ" continues to hold its position as the longest-running film in Indian cinema, showcasing the enduring power of the film and its themes of cross-cultural love and understanding.
