Hong Kong International Film Festival Industry Project Market Unveils Expansion

The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society has expanded its 2025 HKIFF Industry Project Market with eight new titles, bringing the total to 48 projects, marking a record number in recent years.

The expansion features six animation features and two Indonesian projects, showcasing the market's growing presence in Asian film development.

Scheduled from March 17-19 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre alongside FilMart, the market has witnessed a 60% surge in animation submissions since last year.

The animation slate includes notable names like Toe Yuen, whose "A Mighty Adventure" incorporates live-action shots from Taiwan and computer animation from Malaysia.

Other works-in-progress include "Min" by Li Jiajia, supported by producer Liu Jian, and "Wildheart" by Marceau Nakayama, produced by Justin Ambrosino.

The development slate also features "Cloud of the Unknown" by Gao Yuan, "The Tale of the Holy Beast" by Triparna Maiti, and "Light Pillar" by Xu Zao.

"This new animation initiative highlights promising talents and projects, as demonstrated by previous HAF editions," said Jacob Wong, Director of HKIFF Industry.

The market also introduces the Jakarta Film Week Projects, showcasing Indonesian filmmakers Jason Iskandar with "First Breath After Coma" and game developer Pelixiano with the animated "Fly!"

Concurrent with the Asian film market FilMart, the HKIFF Industry Project Market brings together over 8,000 industry professionals annually.

The success of animated sequels like "Ne Zha 2" in the region further underscores the importance of supporting the development of Asian animation.
