Celebrating the Source of Great TV and Films: The Writers Guild Awards (WGAs)
The prestigious Writers Guild Awards (WGAs) honor the foundation of all compelling television shows and movies: the writers.

Original Screenplay: A Tapestry of Stories and Styles
This category showcases a diverse range of storytelling, with five first-time nominees. Notable among them are Sean Baker ("Anora") and Jesse Eisenberg ("A Real Pain"), who also received Oscar nominations for their writing. The WGAs expand their recognition to include Justin Kuritzkes ("Challengers"), Alex Garland ("Civil War"), and Megan Park ("My Old Ass").
Adapted Screenplay: Big Budgets and Acclaimed Names
The adapted screenplay category features established icons alongside new voices. From Richard Linklater and Glen Powell's "Hit Man" (Linklater's third nomination) to James Mangold and Jay Cocks' "A Complete Unknown" (Mangold's second), the field is filled with cinematic heavyweights. Denis Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts, who were nominated for their work on "Dune: Part One," return with "Dune: Part Two." Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox earn recognition for the blockbuster "Wicked," while RaMell Ross and Joslyn Barnes round out the top five with "Nickel Boys."
Small Screen Spotlight: New and Familiar Faces
In the television categories, four shows make their WGA debut: "Shogun," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," "Fallout," and "The Boys." They join the twice-nominated "The Diplomat" in the drama category. The comedy field features returning favorites: "Curb Your Enthusiasm, "The Bear" and "Hacks" have all tasted victory before, while "Abbott Elementary" and "What We Do in the Shadows" add to their previous nominations.
Special Recognition and Support
Beyond the awards, the WGAs honor David Lynch with a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his groundbreaking contributions. The Guild is also committed to supporting its members, establishing the Writers Guild Member Fund to assist those affected by recent wildfires. The fund has received over $1.3 million in contributions from fellow writers.
